Birth and early life
Arun Kumar Sagar was born on 1 May 1976 in Chawar Khas in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. His father Shri Chhoti Lal Sagar belonged to an ordinary farming family. Arun Sagar, who grew up in the Indian rural environment, saw and felt the early struggles of life very closely. Talking about education, Arun Sagar completed his studies up to intermediate from Ramsharan Singh Vidyalaya, Phulsanda, Bijnor. Political start, youth leader in BSP
He started his political life with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), where he was recognized as an emerging young leader of the Jatav community. He was the BSP District President of Shahjahanpur district four times and also served as the party coordinator of Bareilly Zone twice. In view of his organizational skills, he was appointed as the Vice President of the State Construction Corporation at the age of 32 in 2008, which is the equivalent of the Minister of State. This was an important turn of his political life, which gave him recognition at the state level.
2012 assembly elections and party expulsion
In the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the BSP gave Arun Sagar a ticket from Puwaan (Shahjahanpur). Although he fought hard, but lost to Samajwadi Party candidate Shakuntala Devi by a margin of about 4.2% votes. Three years later, on 15 June 2015, he was expelled from the BSP on charges of anti -party activities. This incident proved to be another important turn of his political life.
New beginning in BJP
Arun Sagar joined the Bharatiya Janata Party after expulsion from the BSP. Recognizing his organizational ability and regional grip, the BJP appointed him the Vice President of the Braj Kshetra Unit in 2015. Historical Lok Sabha elections of 2019
In the 2019 general election, BJP declared Arun Sagar as candidate from Shahjahanpur Lok Sabha seat. This decision reflects the strategic vision of the party, as he gave Sagar a chance in place of the then MP and Union Minister Krishna Raj. On May 23, 2019, the election results came out and Arun Sagar defeated the Grand Alliance candidate Amar Chand Johar by a huge margin of 2,68,418 votes to register a historic victory. He received a total of 6,88,990 votes, which was the largest mandate in the Ruhelkhand region.
Role as public representative
After becoming MP, Arun Sagar implemented several development schemes in the area. He got remarkable work done in the construction of rural roads, electricity and water supply, health services and education sector. His priority has always been to bring the underprivileged sections of his region into the mainstream.
