Politician Etela Rajender: Etela Rajender is a senior Indian politician who has created a strong identity in the politics of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He has been a prominent leader of the Telangana movement and has served in various important positions. Etela is considered to be soil -linked leaders, who have made a strong hold at the ground level. They are especially considered to be the major leaders of the Mudiraju community and backward classes (OBC).
He became an MLA from Huzurabad several times due to his strategy in the elections and popularity among the public. He was a member of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) by 2021, after which he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Currently, he is an MP from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat. Etela Rajender’s visit extends from a student leader to becoming finance and health minister, leaving TRS and joining BJP and becoming Lok Sabha MP. He has become one of the prominent BJP leaders in Telangana and is playing an important role in state politics.
Etela Rajender’s personal life
Etela Rajender was born on 20 March 1964 in Kamalapur Andhra Pradesh (now Telangana) in Hanumakonda district and did his BSc from Osmania University in 1984. She is the husband of Jamuna Rajender, who owns the Jamuna Hatrichies, and she has two children – a son and a daughter. He entered politics from student life.

Initial political journey and role in TRS (2003-2010)
Etela Rajender joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in 2003. He was recognized as a student leader of leftist ideology. In 2004, he won the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections from Kamalapur assembly constituency and defeated the current MLA Mudsani Damodar Reddy. He became the floor leader of TRS in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. In 2008, he resigned from the post of MLA and contested the by -election and was re -elected.
Huzurabad constituency and Telangana Movement (2010-2014)
In 2009, Kamalapur constituency was merged into Huzurabad assembly constituency due to delimitation. Etela Rajender won from Huzurabad in the 2009 election and once again resigned as MLA and won the by -election in 2010. During this time, he was actively involved in the Telangana movement and struggled to demand the Telangana state.

Formation of Telangana and role in the state government (2014-2021)
Telangana’s first Finance Minister (2014-2018)
After the formation of Etela Rajender Telangana state, he was in 2014 K.K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) became the first Finance Minister in the government. Etela was one of the early leaders of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and struggled to form the state of Telangana. He has always been a strong supporter of Telangana’s autonomy and demand for a separate state.
Due to this struggle, he was seen as a close associate of K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).
Found the post of Health Minister (2019-2021)
In 2018, Etela Rajender was again elected MLA from Huzurabad and became the Health Minister of Telangana in 2019. He played an important role in handling the state’s health arrangements during Covid-19 epidemic.

Isolation from TRS and joining BJP (2021)
In 2021, Rajender was accused of land encroachment in Achpet and Hakimpet villages in Medak district. He was then removed from the post of minister in May 2021 and was then dismissed from the State Cabinet. On 4 June 2021, he resigned from TRS and also resigned from the post of MLA on 12 June. On 14 June 2021, Etela Rajender joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Later at the end of the year, the BJP won as a BJP candidate in the Huzurabad by -election.
Defeat in 2023 assembly elections
In 2023, Etela Rajender contested as a BJP candidate from both Huzurabad and Gajwell seats. He lost to the candidates of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) at both places.
2024 Lok Sabha elections and new role in BJP
He contested from Malkajgiri seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In which Etela became MP by defeating Patnam Sunita Mahendra Reddy of Rajender Congress by a huge margin of 3,91,475 votes. With this victory, he emerged as a major face of BJP in Telangana.
Dispute and property details
According to the 2018 election affidavit, Etela Rajender declared assets worth ₹ 42.41 crore (₹ 57 crore in 2023) and was one of the richest ministers in Telangana. In 2021, he was removed from both the government and the party due to allegations of land encroachment. Etela Rajender’s political journey has been full of struggle, ups and downs. He played an important role in the Telangana movement, served as the state’s first Finance Minister and Health Minister, but joined the BJP due to controversies and joined the BJP.
