The controversy has deepened by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav about meeting in the mosque on Parliament Street. After the BJP, now Muslim organizations have also objected to this. All India Muslim Jamaat has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Prakash Birla and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta demanding the removal of Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi, Imam of Parliament Street Mosque.
The organization’s national president Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi has described the meeting as a violation of the purity of the mosque and the sanctity of the mosque. The letter said that Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi had recently held a political meeting inside the mosque with Samajwadi Party leaders, including party president Akhilesh Yadav, MP Ram Gopal Yadav, Zia ur Rahman Burke and other leaders. The organization says that its sanctity has been violated by using a holy place like mosque.
Maulana Razvi has written in her letter that only Namaz is allowed inside the mosque, not of any political activity. He also said that only holy people can enter the mosque, while some people came to the meeting wearing vulgar clothes and women also participated in it, which is against Islamic traditions. The organization says that the mosque is a symbol of the faith of Muslims and such incidents are hurt by the feelings of a particular community.
For this reason, he has demanded the removal of Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi from the post of Imam and not to make any political ideology associated with any political ideology in future. The letter also said that if proper action is not taken on it, the sentiments of the community will hurt and the dignity of the mosque will be questioned. Now the discussions in religious and political circles about this matter have intensified. There is no response from the Lok Sabha Speaker and the Chief Minister yet. Earlier, the BJP had also strongly objected to this meeting and accused the SP president of doing communal politics.
