Washington, Sep 3 (IANS) US President Joe Biden on Monday praised Vice President Kamala Harris at their first joint rally held on Labor Day. He said that Vice President Kamala Harris is a strong leader and provides saint-like guidance.
President Biden said that she is a person with a strong backbone and has a moral compass like a saint. This woman knows what she is doing. I promise you, if you choose Kamala Harris as president, then rest assured that you will choose the best person for your future. Kamala also thinks like me that unions are the backbone of this economy. She will be a historically pro-union president.
He said, “It’s true, we have made a lot of progress. Kamala and I are going to build on that progress. She will work on it, but I will stand by her and help in every way possible.”
President Biden called Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump anti-labour and anti-union. “All of that is at risk because of Donald Trump. He can destroy a lot of things in one fell swoop. Do you think this man cares about your pension? Do you think he cares about how much you work every day and how hard it is? Do you think he cares about having good-paying jobs for the hard-working people who build this economy,” he said.
At the same time, Vice President Harris praised Biden and called him one of America’s most transformative presidents. He said, “For more than 150 years, working brothers and sisters have helped lead the fight for fair wages, better benefits and safe working conditions and every person in our country has benefited from this work.”
She added, “You know, everywhere I go, I tell people you may not be a union member, but you should thank unions for the five-day work week. Thank unions for paid sick leave, paid family leave and vacation time, because when union wages go up, everybody’s wages go up. When union workplaces are safe, all workplaces are safe. When unions are strong, America is strong.”
