New Delhi, 26 January (IANS). President Draupadi Murmu hoisted the tricolor on the duty path. The parade began after the 21 cannon salute. Indonesia soldiers also attended this parade.
He was accompanied by Indonesia President Prabovo Subianto, who is the chief guest of this year’s ceremony.
According to tradition, both the presidents were taken to the duty path by the ‘bodyguard of the President’, the most senior regiment of the Indian Army. Reviving the tradition closed for 40 years, he rode in the ‘traditional buggy’ and arrived at the ceremony.
On his arrival, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed him. The Prime Minister also welcomed Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and his wife Sudesh Dhankhar on the path of duty.
The national flag was hoisted among the national anthem, after which 21 cannon salutes were given using the Swadeshi 105-MM light field guns.
This year’s Republic Day celebrations focused on completing 75 years of the implementation of the Constitution and emphasized “public participation”. The festival demonstrated India’s cultural diversity, unity, equality, development and military power.
The parade came out with 300 artists from the Cultural Ministry playing instruments. The artists played “Saare Jahan Se Achcha” with the help of traditional musical instruments such as shehnai, nadswaram, mashka bean, flute, conch and dhol.
Adding global touch to the ceremony, the 152 -member Indonesian National Armed Forces marching troop and 190 -member military band of Indonesia’s military academy also attended the parade.
