Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday spoke to the beneficiaries of ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme in Navsari district of Gujarat on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
Modi, who attended the ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’ in Vansi Borsi village, also distributed financial assistance of Rs 450 crore to more than 2.5 lakh women of more than 25,000 self-help groups (SHG).
The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme was launched by the Central Government in 2023 and has been recognized as women members of self -help groups as ‘Lakhpati Didi’ which have an annual income of at least Rs 1 lakh from agriculture, animal husbandry and small industries.
Modi participated in ‘Prerna Samvad’ with a group of ‘Lakhpati Didis’, in which women shared their experiences.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Navsari MP CR Patil were also present on the occasion. In this program organized on International Women’s Day, only women police personnel were deployed for security.
