New Delhi, October 21 (IANS). Global investor Mark Mobius said on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the perfect mediator to end the Russia-Ukraine war, because till now India has been in the role of a neutral country.
Speaking to IANS on the sidelines of ‘NDTV World Summit 2024’, 88-year-old Mobius said India is well placed to play the role of mediator on the global stage.
He stressed that India has shown its ability to remain neutral and fair towards all. For this reason, it can play a role as a good mediator between Russia and Ukraine. Also said that Prime Minister Modi is the most suitable person for mediation in the world.
On India’s permanent seat in the United Nations (UN), he said that according to India’s economy and population, there should be a permanent seat in the UN Security Council.
Speaking to IANS, Mobius said that India’s growth story continues. At present, it is still in the early stages and India will become a developed nation in the coming years.
On his 88th birthday in August this year, Mobius had said that he would launch a new fund in January next year.
Earlier in the day, former British Prime Minister David Cameron supported India’s mediation role in the Russia-Ukraine war and said India has the credibility to arrange a ceasefire between the two warring countries.
Cameron further said that given the nature of India and Britain as the world’s largest and oldest democracies, there is much in common and both countries share a common responsibility to make the world a better place to live.
