The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) said on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first address to the nation after Operation Sindoor is not enough to satisfy the people of the country and a special session of Parliament should be called to bring more transparency.
OPCC President Bhakta Charan Das said that the people of the country should know whether the government has changed its foreign policy and allowed third party to intervene in the bilateral issue of India and Pakistan.
Das told PTI, “I do not want to comment on the Prime Minister’s statement, but many things remain untold. The country should know if the government allows third party intervention in Pakistan -occupied Kashmir case. We have suddenly made a comeback, while our armed forces are fully ready to fight.”
He claimed that the whole country now remembers the bravery of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Das said that all the Prime Ministers from Jawaharlal Nehru to Chandrashekhar have taken strict decisions at a significant turn and there is no need to withdraw the decision suddenly.
The Congress leader said, “This decision has weakened us, impressed the country’s pride. The Prime Minister did not talk on these issues in his speech. Therefore, a healthy debate is needed. This is possible only when a special session of Parliament is called.” However, BJP MP Sujit Kumar thanked Modi for clarifying that terror and conversation, terror and business cannot run together.
Kumar, who joined the BJP after resigning from BJD, said, “The Prime Minister has also said that blood and water cannot flow together.” He said that the Prime Minister has abolished the “nuclear” blackmail of Pakistan.
