Private schools cannot refuse to admit selected students in EWS category: Ashish Sood

New Delhi, March 5 (IANS). More than 1700 private schools in Delhi cannot refuse to admit EWS category selected students. If private schools refuse to enroll, the Delhi government will take action.

In fact, the Delhi government will conduct a lottery process on March 5 for admission under the Economically Weaker Class (EWS) for the academic session 2025-26. This process will be done in the presence of media and parents. It is being told that in this draw, the students whose name will come and the students who will be allotted will get admission in the school. For this, students should have all the documents related to admission.

While interacting with the news agency IANS, Ashish Sood, a minister in the Delhi government, said that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta wants to set up high standards of transparency. A standard SOP has been issued to ensure that all children in the EWS category get admission to the school without any hassle. On the basis of which the children whose number will come in the draw will go to school by showing their paper and the school will be compulsory to enroll them.

It is worth noting that in the government of the earlier Aam Aadmi Party, private schools used to perform admission to selected students in the EWS category. Many times selected students did not get admission. During this time, private school also had its own story. It is being told that this time 2.5 lakh applications have been received for admission under the EWS category.

Explain that 75 percent seats for nursery admission in private schools in Delhi are for general category. After the completion of the admission process on these seats, admission process for EWS category is started in the remaining 25 percent seats.
