Bengaluru, December 4 (IANS). Karnataka government minister Priyank Kharge made serious allegations regarding the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sending a letter to the Lokayukta and leaking the report to select media. While talking to journalists on Wednesday, Priyank Kharge said that all this is being done with political intentions and this action is being taken completely under the pressure of the Central Government.
Priyank Kharge said that ED has now become a slave directorate. All the allegations made by ED are politically motivated. First of all, it needs to be understood how the ED got the authority to talk about notifications, sale deeds, gift deeds and proceeds of crime. They have not done any concrete investigation and whatever report has come out is completely fabricated.
He alleged that the ED had deliberately leaked the report to the Lokayukta and the media. The timing of the report itself raises questions. There is an important case in the High Court tomorrow and today the report became public. This clearly shows that ED’s intention is only to cause political harm.
The minister said that PMLA and ECIR cases of Congress leaders become public in the media, but cases of BJP leaders are kept silent. He asked why the cases of leaders like Himanta Biswa Sharma, Ajit Pawar are not covered in the media? He claimed that all this is being done to hide the internal politics and weaknesses of the BJP. There is infighting within the BJP in Karnataka, the feud between BJP leaders has become public.
He said that the Congress party will take action at both legal and political levels to deal with these issues. People have already given a befitting reply to BJP in the elections. He also questioned the facts of the report and said that it was based only on rumors and circumstantial evidence. It seems that ED has prepared the report without any concrete investigation.
