New Delhi, September 20 (IANS). The political turmoil continues after the controversial statements of BJP leaders against the Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. On one hand, Union Minister JP Nadda hit back on the letter of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. On the other hand, now Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has raised questions on Nadda’s reply to Kharge’s letter.
Taking a jibe at BJP President Nadda, he said that what was the need to disrespect a senior leader? The tradition and culture of democracy is to ask questions and communicate. Even in religion, no one is above values like dignity and etiquette. Today’s politics is full of poison. What was the need to disrespect an 82-year-old senior leader?
Priyanka Gandhi wrote on the social media platform X on Friday, “Concerned for the safety of the life of the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, in view of the unrestrained and violent rhetoric of some BJP leaders and ministers, Congress President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a letter to the Prime Minister. If the Prime Minister believed in democratic values, equal dialogue and respect for elders, he would have replied to this letter himself. Instead, he got an inferior and aggressive reply written by JP Nadda and sent it.”
He further wrote, “What was the need to disrespect a senior public leader of 82? The tradition and culture of democracy is to ask questions and communicate. Even in religion, no one is above values like dignity and etiquette. Today’s politics is full of poison, the Prime Minister should have set a different example, keeping the dignity of his post. If he had respectfully replied to the letter of a senior colleague politician, his image and dignity would have increased in the eyes of the public.”
Finally, Priyanka Gandhi wrote, “It is unfortunate that our leaders in the highest positions in the government have rejected these great traditions.”
