Punjab News Desk !!! The Punjab government has demanded an increase in the loan limit from the central government. The state government has demanded a loan increase of Rs 10 thousand crore from the Center. The Finance Ministry has also written a letter to the Center for this. In which it is written that the government wants to meet its expenses by taking more loans. The borrowing limit of Punjab for this financial year is Rs 30,464 crore. Out of which the Punjab government has taken a loan of Rs 13,094 crore from the Center in July. Apart from this, the government needs a loan limit of 10 thousand crores in the financial year. In the last financial year, the borrowing limit of the state government was Rs 45,730 crore. In which the central government had cut 2387 crores. After which the state government has written a letter to the Center demanding an increase in the loan.
inherited debt
In a letter to the Centre, the state government has said that it has inherited the debt of the previous governments. To repay it, the state government needs more loans. Because the Punjab government has to repay a loan of Rs 69,867 crore. Out of which, Rs 23,900 crore is only loan and interest payment.
Trying to recover from financial crisis
To overcome the economic crisis, the Punjab government has started imposing green tax, abolished electricity subsidy of Rs 3 per 7 kilowatt, increased oil prices. This will increase the revenue in the government treasury. The government will have to pay salaries to the employees on time.
If the ministry does not listen, the issue will be raised before the PM
If the Finance Ministry does not show any interest in increasing the loan limit, then CM Bhagwant Mann can raise this matter before Prime Minister Bhagwant Mann. Because the central government has not released the outstanding amount of National Health Mission and Rural Development Fund. Similarly, the revenue deficit grant given by the Finance Commission has come down to Rs 1995 crore for the current financial year.
