Considering the Gandhi family’s relationship with Rae Bareli, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi commented that it could be the only Lok Sabha seat in the country from where there are “two MPs” – he himself and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Speaking at an event in Unchahar region, Gandhi thanked party workers and people of Rae Bareli for support in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
He said, “Rae Bareli can be the only constituency in India from where there are two MPs, one I and the other Priyanka. Sometimes they (here) also call them (here). She calls me Wayanad and I go. She also goes to Rae Bareli. There is an MP from, so you should also call them here. “
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi will contest from Rae Bareli and Wayanad seats. After winning both the seats, he decided to retain the Rae Bareli seat and vacate the Wayanad seat from where his sister later won the by -election.
Prior to him, his mother and former Congress President Sonia Gandhi represented Rae Bareli in the Lok Sabha. Her grandmother and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi won the seat in 1967, 1971 and 1980, after which friends and members of the Gandhi family won.
Assuring his commitment to the welfare of the people of his constituency, Gandhi said, “Whatever your problems are, whether in Rae Bareli or Parliament, I am always available. Just tell me what to do, and I have to do, and I am Will complete it. “
At the end of his speech, Gandhi wearing his special white T-shirt with cargo pants emphasized his association with Rae Bareli. He said, “This is not just a political relationship; this is a family relationship.”
After the program, Rahul Gandhi stayed at a roadside restaurant in Munshiganj, where he enjoyed samosas and interacted with people.
He was accompanied by Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma, Congress District President Pankaj Tiwari, former MLA Ajay Pal Singh and many other party leaders. Gandhi is on a two -day visit to his parliamentary constituency.
