A few hours before Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Amethi on Wednesday, posters showing posters that described him as “supporters of terrorism” at several places across the city, including the Congress office and local bus stand.
Inflammatory posters led to political tension, while a large number of police were deployed to prevent such incidents. Despite tight security, posters were seen in the city this morning written in the city.
The people behind this act are still unknown. According to the official, the police were cautious to stop the spread of such materials, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Gandhi visited his parliamentary constituency Rae Bareli on Tuesday. Today he will live in his former Lok Sabha constituency Amethi, from where he has been elected MP three times. After this he will go to Kanpur.
Amethi District Congress President Pradeep Singhal said, “All preparations have been completed for Gandhi’s visit. He will go to Amethi by road from Bhumau Guest House in Rae Bareli, where party workers and locals will welcome him on the way.” Gandhi’s official journey program began with a delegation meeting at Bhumau, Rae Bareli at 8.15 am, after which a gun factory and Indo Asian Rifles Private Limited was visited in Amethi.
He is expected to reach Munshiganj in Amethi at around 12:30 pm. There they will inspect the Ordnance Finance and later inaugurate the new heart surgery operation theater and ambulance service at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.
Congress leaders will also visit Indira Gandhi Nursing College and will interact with students and teachers.
Later at around one o’clock in the afternoon, he will leave for Kanpur to meet the late Shubham Dwivedi’s family. Shubham was among the 26 people killed in the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April.
