Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi again attacked Foreign Minister S Jaishankar again and said that his silence on the number of “lost” aircraft by India is “condemnable” after being “informed” to Pakistan about military action under Operation Sindoor. The BJP retaliated and accused Gandhi of speaking “the language of Pakistan” and asked if the Congress party was really serious to support the country.
Gandhi had earlier targeted Jaishankar on the issue, in which he said that the Indian side had informed Pakistan before the military attacks on the terrorist structure in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (POK).
However, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had described Gandhi’s claim as “completely wrong” that Jaishankar had admitted that India had warned Pakistan before the operation vermilion started on 7 May.
He asked in a post on X, “Foreign Minister Jaishankar’s silence is not just rhetoric, but it is also condemnable. So I will ask again: How many Indian aircraft we lost because Pakistan knew?” Gandhi also said, “It was not a lapse. It was a crime. And the country has the right to truth.”
Congress leader Pawan Kheda also attacked Jaishankar, saying that the country is asking the question as to why Pakistan was already warned about Operation Sindoor, he alleged that “the deal with Sindoor was going on and the Prime Minister kept quiet”. “This deal is not acceptable to us, the betrayal is not acceptable from the country”, Kheda said, he asked what the country had lost and how many terrorists fled to Pakistan after that warning.
He said, “If we had already warned Pakistan, most of the terrorists would have run away. Why did we let this happen? The Prime Minister and the minister should open their mouths and get out immaculate.” He said that he wants to know what the country has lost due to this previous warning. He said, “What Jaishankar has done comes under the category of sin and the silence of Prime Minister and Jaishankar is also a sin.”
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi first shared a dateless video clip of Jaishankar and wrote, “It was a crime to inform Pakistan at the beginning of our attack. The Foreign Minister has publicly acknowledged that the Government of India did so.” The Congress leader asked, “Who authorized it? As a result, how many aircraft our Air Force lost.” The external publicity (XP) division of the ministry said, “The Foreign Minister had said that we had warned Pakistan in the beginning, which is clearly the initial stage after the operation of Operation Sindoor.”
A brief statement said, “It is being incorrectly presented that it was before the beginning. The facts are being condemned to be completely incorrectly presenting.” Union Minister Prahlad Joshi attacked Gandhi and said that he incorrectly presented the statement of the Ministry of External Affairs. “It seems that Rahul Gandhi has not learned anything from his previous mistakes. He continues to insult the armed forces of the country by questioning how many jets have been lost – while the Indian Air Force and Ministry of External Affairs have made a clear statement that no property has been damaged.
Joshi said in a post on X, “He incorrectly presented the statement of the Ministry of External Affairs, while the DGMO had clarified in his briefing on May 11 that India had tried to communicate with its counterparts. Is the Congress party really serious to support the nation? Their works indicate some more.”
BJP IT department chief Amit Malviya said in a post on X, “Rahul Gandhi’s stupidity is not just casual. It is frightening. Rahul Gandhi should avoid distorting the facts. India knows who he really speaks for.” BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari alleged that the Congress leader’s remarks reflect Pakistan’s propaganda.
“Rahul Gandhi’s ignorance is not only random – it is dangerous,” he accused Gandhi of walking on the “pro -Pakistan line”. He said, “It is not a lapse by Rahul Gandhi to deliberately distract the facts. It is a well-planned trick to promote hostile narratives. When India united against terrorism, it chooses to spread confusion and Pakistan celebrates it.”
Kheda said that Rahul Gandhi has asked some questions on the statement of the Foreign Minister. He said that Jaishankar himself told the media that he had informed Pakistan before attacking. “What is the meaning of this information now? Is the Foreign Minister so much confidence in Pakistan that the terrorists will sit quietly on their orders? What is the relationship with Pakistan and why he informed Pakistan before the attack? He said,” In fact it is not diplomacy but espionage. Everyone heard what the Foreign Minister said – yet it is being hidden. Did Masood Azhar survive due to this information and Hafiz Saeed survived? Does the country not have the right to know this … “
