Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. He met the victims of the shelling across the border earlier this month. A Congress leader said that on Saturday morning, Rahul Gandhi reached Jammu Airport and from there to Poonch by helicopter, where he visited the border -affected areas from across the border and met the bereaved families. The Congress leader also interacted with school children and boosted their morale. Jammu and Kashmir Congress President Tariq Hamid Karra was also present with him.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi visited a school in Poonch and interacted with students affected by Pakistani shells across the border. He said, ‘Now, you have seen the danger and a little frightening situation, but do not worry, everything will be normal. Your way to deal with this problem should be that you study a lot and play a lot and make a lot of friends in school.
Jammu and Kashmir Congress President Tariq Hameed Karra said on Rahul Gandhi’s Poonch tour, ‘The most damage has been in Poonch. Rahul Gandhi met people affected by shelling and also reviewed the damage done to their homes.
He also went to large institutions that have been damaged in shelling. Rahul Gandhi will also go to the gurudwara and temple, which has been damaged in Pakistani shelling. The children who have died in firing, Rahul Gandhi will also go to their house.
In response to the Pahalgam massacre, on May 7, India had increased the artillery shelling and mortar in Poonch sector from across the border after accurate attacks on nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor on 7 May.
In Jammu and Kashmir, 28 people were killed in firing, missiles and drone attacks from Pakistan between 7 and 10 May in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which 13 were killed in Poonch district and more than 70 were injured. Thousands of people had to migrate from areas near the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border and take shelter in government relief camps. After four days of military conflict, it was agreed to end the conflict between India and Pakistan on 10 May.
