At the same time, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday protested and protested on the streets, calling for ‘Balasore bandh’ in protest against the Odisha government. The BJD workers burnt tires on the streets in Balasore and expressed anger over the “inaction” of the government, due to which the girl committed self -immolation against the alleged sexual harassment.
A BJD worker demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Education Minister Suryavanshi Suraj.
He said, “A large number of people are joining our protests … The victim should get justice. The Chief Minister and the Health Minister of the state should resign. We have called for Balasore bandh from 6 am to 2 pm.”
Significantly, the incident took place after an incident of self -immolation by a 20 -year -old girl due to alleged sexual harassment by her teacher. After the Head of the Department of the college allegedly faced sexual harassment for a long time, the 20 -year -old student set herself on fire.
Despite filing a formal complaint and seeking help from the principal, his plea was unheard, resulting in this tragic incident. The incident occurred at Fakir Mohan (Autonomous) College.
Earlier, the BJD chief Naveen Patnaik criticized the Odisha government, describing his administration as a “failed system” and blamed a student of Balasore College responsible for his inaction for the death.
Patnaik said that his death was “not an accident” but the result of the system that “kept quiet instead of helping.”

On Monday, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar confirmed the death of a 20 -year -old student of Fakir Mohan Autonomous College in Balasore, Odisha, which attempted self -immolation.
The Burn Center Department of AIIMS Bhubaneswar said in a statement that the patient was brought on July 12 and was referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar from Balasore District Headquarters Hospital.
