Either our party should remain silent in the assembly: NCP spokesperson
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP are partners in the ruling ‘Mahayuti’ alliance in the state. “Either Sawant will remain in the Mahayuti cabinet or in our party. If he is not sacked immediately, we will quit the government. Our national president Ajit Pawar should also quit the cabinet immediately,” NCP spokesperson Umesh Patil said, according to the Indian Express.
NCP ministers will not attend the cabinet meeting
The NCP spokesperson said Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will not attend any cabinet meeting until Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Sawant takes a decision. “All our ministers, apart from our party president, should boycott cabinet meetings until Sawant is sacked. We will not accept Sawant’s apology or a statement that he was misquoted. We want him out immediately,” Patil said.
Only CM has the ‘cure’ for vomiting problem!
State NCP chief Sunil Tatkare said, “Who is Tanaji Sawant? The BJP and its top leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have made us part of the alliance after long deliberations.” On the other hand, NCP spokesperson and Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Amol Mitkari condemned Sawant’s statement and questioned whether the responsibility of keeping the alliance intact rests solely with his party. He said Sawant had made similar comments earlier as well which hurt the NCP. Mitkari said, “We are silent only for coalition dharma.” The NCP leader said only the chief minister can “cure” his vomiting problem.
How can Ajit Pawar tolerate such insult?
At the same time, Sharad Pawar’s party NCP also did not miss the opportunity to take a dig at Sawant’s statement. NCP (Sharad Chandra Pawar) chief spokesperson Mahesh Tapase said that Ajit Pawar has lost all his respect and unrest is growing within the Shinde-led government. Tapase wondered how Ajit Pawar’s party could tolerate such an insult. Tapase said, “I never thought that Ajit Dada, who was once highly respected in the NCP, would compromise his self-respect for power.” She also criticized Ajit Pawar’s decision to break away from Sharad Pawar’s party and questioned the cost of this move, which led to public humiliation instead of political gain.
