Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed the authorities to re -evaluate and redeem the flood area guidelines across the state after implementing proper measures for flood control.
Fadnavis said that the current demarcation is stopping development activities in areas where there has not been floods for decades. Fadnavis said, “The flood lines of many rivers have become outdated and many of these areas have been hindering development despite not having flood incidents for many years. The Department of Water Resources should conduct a fresh survey and suggested revised guidelines after implementing flood control measures.
The Chief Minister said, “Development work is facing obstruction due to the old demarcation of the flood line. Therefore, flood control measures should be applied to all river banks and guidelines related to flood lines should be redefined. ”The Chief Minister directed the Water Resources Department to re-survey the flood line in the areas where there has been no flood for many years.
