Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday urged the opposition parties to participate in the Lok Sabha, Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla’s International Space Station at the International Space Station and urged to participate in the proposed discussion on India’s progress in the space sector.
Please tell that astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla returned to India in the early hours of Sunday. A large number of people gathered at the Delhi Airport waving the tricolor with drums and drums to celebrate his historic visit of the International Space Station (ISS). Amidst the sound of drums, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan welcomed Shubhanshu Shukla and his backup astronaut Prashant Balakrishnan Nair.
His wife wisna and son Kai Shish were also present at the airport to welcome Shukla, who returned home after training in the US for almost a year for space trip.
Opposition parties request to participate in the proposed discussion in Lok Sabha
Reijiju said in a post on ‘X’, “Our hero astronaut group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has returned home after a successful mission at the international space station. Parliament will respect him with a special discussion on his historical achievement and India’s growing space ambitions in the direction of developed India. ”
Special discussion will be held in Lok Sabha
In response to the reception message posted by Jitendra Singh after welcoming him at the airport, Shukla wrote on X, ‘Thank you sir. It looks really good after coming back home. Shukla is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday and then go to his hometown Lucknow. He is also expected to return to the capital to attend the National Space Day celebrations on 22-23 August.
There will be a special discussion on the topic of ‘India’s first astronaut at the International Space Station’ at the International Space Station in the Lok Sabha on Monday to commemorate Shukla’s home. This information has been given in the agenda issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
Two important bills will also be introduced
Along with this historical discussion, two important bills will also be introduced in the Lok Sabha. Union Minister Piyush Goyal will propose for permission to introduce the Bill, 2025. The second bill is the Indian Institute of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025. It will be presented by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Through this bill, it has been proposed to make further amendments in the Indian Institute of Management Act, 2017.
Significantly, Shubhanshu Shukla Axiom-4 was part of the private space mission, which left Florida on 25 June and reached the international space station on 26 June. He returned to Earth on 15 July. Three other astronauts- Pagi Whitson (America), Slavose Uznansky-Visnivsky (Poland) and Tibor Kapu (Hungary), Shukla performed more than 60 experiments during the 18-day mission and conducted 20 outreach sessions.
