New Delhi, October 29 (IANS). Four replicas of the Konark Chakra made of sandstone have been installed in the Cultural Center and Amrit Udyan of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The purpose of establishing Konark Chakras is to showcase and promote the rich heritage of the country among the visitors. This initiative is part of several steps being taken to incorporate traditional cultural and historical elements into Rashtrapati Bhavan. Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a fine example of the temple architecture of Odisha.
The Konark Wheels are a symbol of India’s cultural heritage. This wheel was designed to represent the wheels of Surya’s chariot. It was also used as a sundial to accurately measure time, including day and night.
The design of the wheel is based on complex mathematical calculations. It takes into account the rotation of the Earth and the movement of the Sun, Moon and stars.
This chakra is part of the Konark Sun Temple, located on the east coast of India. The temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famous Brahmin pilgrimage sites in India.
A replica of the iconic wheel of the Konark temple served as the cultural backdrop to the meetings of foreign dignitaries at the G-20 summit meeting at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
