Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Sunday that the demolition campaign launched at Madrasi camp was strictly complied with the court’s instructions. While the Aam Aadmi Party leaders came to visit the ground zero and retaliated and resolved to fight for the affected.
What did CM Rekha Gupta say?
The Chief Minister said that the court had ordered the removal of this slum four times for cleaning the Barapula drain in the capital with the objective of stopping the disasters related to future floods in the capital. He said that houses have been allotted houses to the residents of Madrasi camp and they have been transferred there.
In a conversation with reporters, Gupta said, “I have clearly said that if the court has given some orders, neither the government nor the administration can do anything. The truth of breaking the Madrasi camp is that it was built on the banks of the Barapula drain. The court ordered the removal of this slum four times, so that machines can be installed for cleaning the drain, so that there will be no order of the court. Can not disregard. The residents of that camp have been allotted and shifted there. “
The Chief Minister of Delhi said that similar action has been taken at other places including railway colony.
Targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders to politicize the matter, the Chief Minister asked who would be responsible for this if there is a loss of life.
He said, “Action was taken at three places in Delhi, including railway colony, which is a slum settled near the railway track. Railways took action. If there is loss of life, who will be responsible? Will Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi or Arvind Kejriwal be held accountable? The court knows what she is doing and hence he has ordered.”
In addition, mentioning that the BJP -led Delhi government is working for the welfare of the capital region, the Chief Minister said, “Apart from this, development works are going on in the entire Delhi at a cost of Rs 700 crore, which were never done by Kejriwal or Congress government.”
Aam Aadmi Party leaders response
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh and Delhi unit president Saurabh Bhardwaj visited the Madrasi camp at Jangpura on Sunday. A few days ago, a sabotage campaign was conducted on the order of the Delhi High Court.
Talking to reporters, Saurabh Bhardwaj criticized the election promises made by the BJP government in the Delhi Assembly elections and accused him of betraying people living in JJ Clusters.
He said, “Ever since the BJP government has been formed in Delhi, every day there is news of bulldozer action from somewhere. This Madrasi Dera is more than 50 years old. These people were displaced. Before the election, BJP candidates came here and distributed cards to every person. And when they (BJP) won here, they have not seen here, these people have broken these people who have broken these people. And their fight will be fought from the road to the Parliament. “
How did the political fierce start?
Earlier on June 4, AAP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Atishi, after a court order, launched a scathing attack on the BJP after a demolition campaign at Madrasi Camp in Jangpura, South East Delhi on 1 June. In a post on X, Atishi wrote, “The BJP promised to ‘where the slum, there’, but as soon as he won the election, he dropped the Madrasi camp from the bulldozer.”
Atishi wrote, “Today, when I went there, women, elderly, youth all cried bitterly. They were saying that they made a mistake by voting for the BJP. If Kejriwal were here, they would not let our slums break.”
What was the matter?
A demolition campaign was carried out at the Madrasi camp in Jangpura, South East Delhi on June 1, following a court order to remove encroachment in the area along the banks of Barapula drain. Officials described the water flow barrier during the monsoon season as the main reason for this campaign, which was aimed at solving the problem of continuous floods in the area.
This campaign was carried out to solve the flood problem caused by narrow drain, which hinders the water flow during heavy rains. 370 encroachments have been demolished, 189 residents are considered eligible for rehabilitation and allocated flats in Narela, while 181 are ineligible for rehabilitation.
