Kiev, September 4 (IANS). Russia carried out several missile attacks on Ukraine. 51 people were killed and more than 200 people were injured in the attack. This attack was carried out on a military training institute located in the central part of Ukraine.
This is one of the deadliest attacks since Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a post that he had received information about a Russian attack in Poltava. The attack targeted an educational institution and a nearby hospital. A building of the Telecommunications Institute was also partially destroyed in the attack.
The President said that we have been telling repeatedly to those who can stop this terror that Ukraine needs air defense systems and missiles to protect it from air attacks. They should get them as quickly as possible, and not keep them in a warehouse.
“I have received initial reports of a Russian attack on Poltava. Two ballistic missiles hit the area,” he said.
The head of the military administration of the Poltava region, Filipp Pronin, announced the latest death toll on Telegram. He said rescue teams were busy clearing the rubble and searching for trapped people. He said there could be 18 more people buried under the rubble.
At least 10 residential buildings of the military educational institution have been damaged.
Moscow has not commented on the attack, but Vladimir Rozov, a well-known Russian military blogger, reported on Tuesday that Russia attacked a military school in Poltava.
The President also expressed his gratitude to those who helped in the relief work after the attack.
Zelensky has ordered a full and immediate investigation into the attack. He has said that all necessary services are involved in the rescue work. He has demanded the supply of more air defense systems and long-range missiles from Western allies.
