Saint Gadge was the Jannayak of cleanliness, his inspiration guides us: CM Yogi

Mahakumbh Nagar, 23 February (IANS). A grand ceremony was held at Ganga Pandal in Sector 1 of Mahakumbh Nagar on Sunday on the 149th birth anniversary of Rashtrasant Param Pujya Gadge Ji Maharaj. On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath bowed to Sant Gadge Ji and said that he was the pioneer of social justice, who gave a new direction to the society by wide public awareness against casteism, superstition and unwaveringness.

CM Yogi said that the life of Gadge Ji Maharaj has been an inspiration to bring awareness and improvement in the society. Wherever he went, he would give a message of education and cleanliness through Kirtan and motivate the public towards cleanliness by keeping a broom with him. He said that Gadge ji used to say that God’s abode is where there is cleanliness. Taking this message forward, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the cleanliness campaign on 2 October 2014, which has become a global movement today.

He said that the message of cleanliness given by Sant Gadge ji a century ago, is reaching crores of people today as inspiration. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, toilets were built in crores of houses under the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’, which protected women’s dignity and prevention of diseases was possible.

CM Yogi praised the people of Prayagraj and said that the city has set an example of cleanliness and orderly in the event of Mahakumbh. He said that today there is no jam situation in Prayagraj and the people here considering Mahakumbh as their event are commendable.

Chief Minister Yogi said that next year the 150th birth anniversary of Sant Gadge Ji Maharaj will be celebrated in a grand manner. He said that the government of double engine is always ready for the welfare of the society and every effort will be made to further expand this message of cleanliness.

The Chief Minister specially appreciated the Legislative Council member Surendra Chaudhary for the fact that he organized such a huge event on the occasion of the 149th birth anniversary of Sant Gadge ji. The Chief Minister said that this ceremony organized on the birth anniversary of Sant Gadge Ji Maharaj has not only made an opportunity to repeat the importance of cleanliness, but has also proved to be an encouraging public awareness towards social reforms.
