Police have arrested two absconding accused involved in the murder of Beed Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh from Dhule district of Maharashtra. An official gave this information on Saturday.
Dhule police arrested Sudarshan Chandrabhan Ghule (26) and Sudhir Sangle (23) and handed them over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the official said.
Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Masajog village located in Kej tehsil in Beed district, was abducted and murdered on December 9. Deshmukh was murdered for protesting against extortion by some people from a wind mill company.
Valmik Karad, a close aide of Maharashtra Minister Dhananjay Munde, has been arrested in this case.
Several police teams were deployed to arrest the three absconding accused. An SIT was formed to nab him.
The official said that the investigation team interrogated three people to trace the absconding people, took the help of informers and caught the two accused with the help of technology.
