Amidst the Manipur violence, security forces have recovered two grenades from ICICI Bank and Kangla Foods. Police suspect extortion. The matter is being investigated rapidly. Security forces conducted an operation in Singjamei Mayangbam Likai located in Imphal West on Wednesday. The Manipur government has taken a tough stance against extortion. Police had received information that someone had placed a hand grenade on the stairs of the main entrance of ICICI Bank. After this the team of Singjamei police station reached the spot. According to the police, the bomb was recovered at 8 in the morning. The lever of the hand grenade was not found. After this the bomb disposal squad was called, which defused it.
According to the police, this grenade was highly explosive. Had it been attacked, huge damage could have been caused. Who planted the hand grenade, police is investigating the matter? Police suspect that the case may be one of extortion. Another hand grenade was found in Nambol in Bishnapur district. A warning note along with the bomb was also found in Kangla Foods in the area. In which it is written that those people should be contacted within 24 hours. Reportedly, the food manager has been warned. Police have recovered the grenade. The case is being investigated.
