Seoul, October 29 (IANS). Security has been increased due to fears of a possible assassination attempt on North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. South Korea’s intelligence agency gave this information to lawmakers on Tuesday.
The National Intelligence Service (NIS) gave this information during a parliamentary audit session, according to representative Lee Seong-kwan of the ruling People’s Power Party and representative Park Sun-won of the main opposition Democratic Party.
The NIS told lawmakers that the security level around Kim has been increased due to possible attempts to assassinate him through communication jamming vehicles and drone detection equipment.
The NIS also said Kim’s public activities increased 110 times this year, nearly 60 percent more than last year.
The NIS also briefed lawmakers about Kim’s daughter, known as ‘Ju-ae’. The NIS believes that ‘Ju-e’s status has been partially elevated, including in the example of his public appearance.
Meanwhile, claims of deployment of North Korean troops in Russia are gaining strength.
The chief of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) confirmed on Monday that North Korean troops have been deployed in the Kursk region on Russia’s western border.
Earlier, Seoul and Washington have also claimed the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia.
Seoul is considering the option of studying and analyzing the tactics of North Korean troops. For this he is planning to send one of his teams to Ukraine. If such a team were to leave for Ukraine, it could include intelligence officers and North Korea experts from the military.
