Greater Noida/Lucknow, Sep 11 (IANS) Today the whole world not only wants to see India become a leader in semiconductor manufacturing, but is also confident of its key role in the global supply chain and is also committed to all kinds of coordination for this.
While participating in ‘Semicon India 2024’ organized at Expo Mart in Greater Noida on Wednesday, global leaders of the semiconductor sector focused the most on these topics. Also, the whole world was advised to focus on ‘Modi Law’ for growth. ‘Modi Law’ is PM Modi’s policies, which are important for the all-round development of any industry. There are opportunities for exponential growth in the field of semiconductors and PM Modi’s vision focuses the most on this. This is what global leaders appreciated the most and gave priority to.
Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI, a global association working towards global collaboration in the semiconductor industry, said that this is unimaginable as well as amazing. SEMICON has been organized in many countries. But this is the first edition in India and it is four to five times bigger than other countries. This shows India’s unprecedented capabilities.
He stressed that all CEOs and business leaders agree that semiconductor manufacturing and supply chain should be promoted in India. This has happened due to India’s leadership and vision, which has influenced the whole world. We have to talk about the ‘Modi Law’. The ‘Modi Law’ focuses on exponential growth. We have to make this vision a reality because it is the path to progress not only for India, not only for the world but for the entire humanity. Achievements in the semiconductor industry form the basis for opening doors for achievements in the entire industry sector.
Tata Electronics CEO Dr. Randhir Thakur said that PM Modi laid the foundation stone of the country’s first commercial fab in Dholera Gujarat and the country’s first indigenous OCEAT industry in Jagiroad Assam. Both these projects were approved by the Government of India in record time, which has set a benchmark. This was made possible under India’s semiconductor mission. Manufacturing of chip conductors requires thousands of sophisticated semiconductor partners, who work as a team. Chip manufacturing is completed through a total of 11 important components, in which design, social infrastructure and logistics are important.
He said that today, with the initiative of the Government of India, representatives of all these 11 important ecosystems are included in the program, which is a big achievement. We are committed to working with all the partners. We have to work together like the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup. This has been possible only due to PM Modi’s global reach, vision and semiconductor mission. Tata brought the steel industry to the country and now we are also committed to developing the semiconductor ecosystem in the country. Through this process, we will be able to provide 50,000 jobs. Each semiconductor related job will also create 10 other employment opportunities. This is the time, the right time, India’s precious time.
Kurt Sievers, Executive Director and CEO of NXP Semiconductors, said that ambition, trust and collaboration are the three attributes that ensure success in the semiconductor industry. This is not a sprint but a marathon. We have been present in India for fifty years and the changes that have taken place in the last few years are unimaginable. This is making India very rich and powerful in terms of economy. Innovation, democracy and trust are the magic mantras on which the country’s industries progress. We are in India, with India and are committed.
Hitoshi Shibata, President and CEO of Renaissance Electronics Corporation, the world’s third largest automotive semiconductor company and the world’s largest microcontroller supplier, said that Renaissance Electronics Japan is the world’s third largest embedded semiconductor solutions provider. We have been successful in setting up the first plant in India. We are expanding our presence in Bangalore, Delhi, Noida and Hyderabad. We created the world’s first 300 mm commercial semiconductor path. We are well aware of the complexities of semiconductor technology. We are committed to playing our role in realizing this dream of India and will work on making the ‘Modi Law’ a reality.
LukeWonden Hall, President and CEO of iMac, which is known as the world’s largest research and development hub in the field of semiconductors, said that we are ready to boost India’s semiconductor manufacturing. IMac is ready for strategic partnership. This is important not only for India but for the whole world because a reliable supply chain is needed, which can be provided by India as the world’s largest democracy.
