Senior IPS officer Manish Shankar Sharma dies

Bhopal, 17 March (IANS). Manish Shankar Sharma, a prestigious officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS) (Indian Railways) (Indian Railways), died on Monday in a hospital in New Delhi.

His funeral will take place in Bhopal. He was suffering from cancer. Sharma, who belongs to the 1992 IPS cadre, received a postgraduate degree in internal affairs and public policy from the University of California, in which he paid special attention to international security and anti-terrorism.

Apart from his contribution to the field of law enforcement and anti-terrorism, he also showed his ability to diplomacy and participated in the United Nations Peace Missions in Europe. Additionally, he played an important role in increasing India’s transportation security systems.

It is noteworthy that Manish Shankar Sharma was honored as “Manish S Sharma Day”, which was declared on 20 July 2015 by the then mayor of the American city of San Diego and is celebrated every year.

In his career, he received several awards, including National Law Day Award, Ease of Business, Roll of Honor and RN Zutshi Award etc.

Sharma’s career was in India and internationally at a variety of roles. As an Indian trade diplomat in Dubai, he oversee trade relations between 22 countries in West Asia and Africa.

In India, he served as the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of Aviation Safety for the airports across the country and the police chief during the United Nations Peace Mission in Europe.

His tenure as Superintendent of Police included posting in Raisen, Satna, Chhindwara and Khandwa. Sharma, who belonged to Narmadapuram (East Hoshangabad), was from a reputed family.
