Shivkumar's statement on speculation of rift in Karnataka Congress, said- 'I am according to my party ...'

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar has reiterated his support for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and said that he will follow the decisions taken by his party and leadership keeping in mind the target of winning the 2028 state assembly elections.

Talking to media persons a day earlier, I have to stand with Siddaramaiah “I have to stand with them and support them. I have no objection to them” On the statement, Shivkumar said, “I have to walk according to my party. My party is important. My leadership decision is important. Our goal is to win 2028 (state assembly elections), we will work for it.”

His remarks have come at a time when there are speculation of internal differences in the Karnataka Congress unit. Let me tell you that Shivkumar had earlier expressed his support to Siddaramaiah and said, “What option do I have? I have to stand with him and support him. I have no objection.”

Soon after this comment, the Chief Minister of Karnataka dismissed the BJP’s claims of internal differences in the state government and called the allegations “lies” and reiterated that his government would complete a five -year term.

Siddaramaiah said, “What the BJP says is only a lie. You (media) do not only believe their words. They are known to lie. They do not know to speak the truth. It does not matter whether they believe or not, we are all together.”

He said, “As I told you in Mysore, our government will remain like a rock for five years. BJP people are watching the day of daylight.”

He also clarified that the meeting of the State Cabinet held in Bengaluru was part of a series of divisional meetings across Karnataka.

He said, “We held cabinet meetings in the western region. Today we are holding a meeting in Bengaluru division. After a few days we will also hold a meeting in Belagavi division. We are also considering meeting in Vijaypura.”
