Hamirpur, Sep 26 (IANS) Even though the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh has taken a U-turn on the decision of nameplates for shopkeepers and vendors, the shopkeepers of Hamirpur are in favour of implementing it.
In fact, Himachal government minister Vikramaditya Singh had ordered on Wednesday that people running hotels, restaurants and street vendors will also have to put up nameplates. After Singh’s statement, there has been a heated discussion in political circles about the need to implement the UP model here. Finally, on Thursday, the government said that there is no plan to implement any such rule right now. But the shopkeepers here expressed happiness over this model.
During the conversation, Vyapar Mandal’s general secretary Ashwini Jagota said that the government’s decision is correct because every shopkeeper should reveal his identity. Like we have a shop, we have put a name plate in front of the shop.
Shopkeeper Vijay Verma said that there should be a nameplate in front of the shop. This is a good initiative of the government. After Uttar Pradesh, now it will be implemented in Himachal as well.
Shopkeeper Sushil Sharma says that he has also disclosed his identity and there is nothing wrong in it. If someone hides his identity then it is a bad thing. Therefore, shopkeepers need to disclose their identity more than hiding it.
It is being told that Himachal government minister Vikramaditya Singh has ordered the Municipal Corporation to start the work of making photo IDs as soon as possible so that this system can be started in other districts including Shimla.
It is being said that the top leadership of Congress is angry with Vikramaditya’s decision and that is why the government has had to step back from implementing this directive. He has been called to Delhi. At the same time, Vikramaditya’s decision has received the support of Minister Anirudh Singh in the government.
