Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal welcomed the Center’s decision to send diplomatic contact delegation after Operation Sindoor and reminded how the UPA government had done such a practice to highlight Pakistan as a “factory of terrorists” after the 26/11 attack, which India is now benefiting.
His comment has come after the government announced that it will send seven all -party delegations to the major partner countries to convey India’s message of zero tolerance to terrorism after Operation Sindoor.
He told a press conference, “I remember that after 26/11, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had decided that we should take a step that proves to the world that Pakistan is a terrorist country and raise terrorists. We collected facts, prepared documents, then various delegations went to various areas like America, Europe.”
Sibal, Union Minister in the Manmohan Singh government, said, “I led the delegation that went to the African continent. We met MPs, informed them … We created an atmosphere that we are still getting the benefit today. We said that Pakistan is a terrorist factory. Even China has condemned the terrorist attack.” He said that terrorist activities have declined during Manmohan Singh’s reign.
Sibal said that after the Pahalgam attack, he had demanded to pass a resolution and if this had happened, “We could tell the world what the thinking of Parliament is.” He said, “I also sought to send an all -party delegation. I made this demand on April 25 and repeated it at a press conference two days later. I have been insisting on it.”
Sibal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not been listening to the opposition for the last decade, but “Perhaps he has heard us this time.” He said, “I want to congratulate the government, this is a good thing.” Sibal also said that he had earlier said that by amending the UAPA, “We should add an schedule in which we can call a terrorist state and keep Pakistan under it, so that we can go into the world and tell that you are doing business with this terrorist.”
After the Opposition leaders Shashi Tharoor and Kanimozhi, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Sanjay Jha, along with members of the ruling coalition, after Operation Sindoor, seven all -round delegations in major partnership countries will lead the seven all -sided delegations in major partner countries to convey the message of zero tolerance against terrorism. The other MPs selected by the government to present India’s “National Consent” globally, including members of the United Nations Security Council in fighting terrorism, are Supriya Sule of NCP -SP, Baijayant ‘Jai’ Panda of BJP and Shrikant Shinde of Shiv Sena.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs on Saturday said, “All -party delegation will put forward India’s national consent and firm attitude to combat terrorism in all forms and expressions. They will carry forward the strong message of the country of zero tolerance against terrorism in front of the world.” The government has selected the leaders who lead the delegation very carefully, as they all come from political parties and are considered as vocal voice. These leaders include four of the ruling National Democratic Alliance and three leaders of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party, who are long -active MPs in public life.
