New Delhi, Sep 14 (IANS) The BJP has reacted strongly to a photo of an idol of Lord Ganesha being carried in a police vehicle in Karnataka. The BJP has alleged that the excesses committed by the Siddaramaiah government in the state are a grim reminder of the legacy of Tipu Sultan.
BJP national spokesperson Tuhin Sinha reacted sharply to the attitude of the Karnataka government. He said that a very painful picture has emerged from Mandya in Karnataka. An idol of Lord Ganesha is being locked in a police van and people are being arrested and taken away.
The BJP spokesperson reminded that these incidents happening during Ganeshotsav are happening at the same place where, in the year 1790, Tipu Sultan had attacked the Brahmins worshipping there and killed hundreds of them. 134 years after that attack, even today there are many families who do not celebrate Diwali and now during Ganeshotsav, instead of giving protection to the organizers of this puja, the Karnataka government has arrested the idol of Lord Ganesha.
Recalling the tenure of Manmohan Singh government, he said that this bill was to be introduced in the year 2011. It had a provision that wherever riots took place, the majority community would be held responsible for it. This bill was stopped by BJP when it was in opposition at that time. He further said that this indicates how dangerous the Indian alliance is.
What is happening in Karnataka is just a trailer, Indi alliance is going to do similar activities all over the country. He also advised the Hindu community to stay away from Indi alliance.
