Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Saturday alleged that patients and their families are facing a “hell” like situation outside the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and both the Center and the Delhi government are responsible for this situation.
Recently, Rahul Gandhi had met the family members of many patients outside AIIMS and learned about their problems.
The former Congress president posted its video from his social media account on Saturday. He posted this video on ‘X’ and claimed that the conditions outside AIIMS are like hell.
Rahul Gandhi asked why the Central and Delhi governments, which make tall claims, have turned a blind eye to this humanitarian crisis?
He said on his YouTube channel, “The national healthcare system is completely devastated, and patients are paying huge prices in the hope of cheap and accurate treatment at AIIMS Delhi. A few days ago, I reached AIIMS, outside Delhi, to know the condition of patients and facilities – the sight was heart-wrenching.”
He said, “Patients and their families from different corners of the country, who have come here in the hope of treatment, are forced to live in the cold and dirt on the roads and subways. They are yearning for a roof over their heads, food in their stomachs and even drinking water.”
According to him, every family has such a painful story, from cancer to heart problems.
The former Congress president said, “There is no arrangement here for these people coming for treatment from distant states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam. They have come to Delhi with just one hope, that maybe he or his family members will get well, if only somehow their lives can be saved – if they talk to the doctor once, get some advice and solace.” He alleged that the failure of both the Central and Delhi governments is clearly visible. Rahul Gandhi asked, “Is this the health system of our country?”
Rahul Gandhi alleged that care, facilities and treatment of the sick is the most basic responsibility of any government in which the state and central governments have completely failed. “This is completely unacceptable,” he said.
