Situation tense in 2 districts of Maharashtra due to stone pelting during Ganpati immersion, police arrested 50 people

Maharashtra News Desk !!! Ganpati immersion is done with great pomp in Bhiwandi of Thane district of Maharashtra. Like every year, this time too, preparations were made to welcome the Ganesh Mandal by making a pavilion outside the Hindustani Mosque located at Vanjarpatti Naka and seating the Mohalla Committee and the police. At around 12 o’clock in the night, Ghughat Nagar was going to take a bath in the Kamwari river. When the idol of Ganesh ji was passing through Vanjarpatti Naka, some youths near Hindustani Mosque pelted stones at the idol. Due to which the idol broke, the people of the Mandal created a ruckus on the spot over breaking the idol. According to sources, the crowd caught a young man and beat him up and handed him over to the police. Apart from Bhiwandi, two parties clashed during immersion in Buldhana district as well. The situation is tense at the moment.

After the stone pelting, people going for immersion protested in front of the police. People said that there will be no vigilance until the stone pelters are caught. After the incident, some more people reached the spot and started raising religious slogans. People from two communities gathered in no time. Seeing the situation deteriorating, senior police officers reached the spot. They explained to the people, but people were adamant on the arrest of the stone pelters. After this, people from both communities became violent. As the tension increased, the police had to resort to lathi charge. Many people have been injured due to this.

After the uproar, BJP MLAs reached the spot

On receiving information about the stone pelting, BJP MLA Mahesh Chaughu reached the spot with his supporters and pacified the situation. After this, people going for immersion gathered at Shivaji Chowk and started raising slogans demanding action. On the other hand, people from other communities also reached Hafiz Dargah in large numbers. During this time, a large number of police were deployed. In this case, DCP Srikant Charitable and Additional Commissioner Dnyaneshwar Chavan said that some people have been detained. The case has been registered and investigation is being done and strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty.
