Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a high -level meeting at his residence on Wednesday after a stampede incident at Mahakumbh and said that some people were “seriously injured” in the incident.
After the meeting, he told reporters that the situation is now under control, although the crowd pressure still remains. Adityanath said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah and JP Nadda called him to take stock of Prayagraj’s situation.
The Chief Minister said that there are about 9-10 crore people in Prayagraj and appealed to the devotees to take a dip in the Ganges on their nearest ghats and do not try to go to the confluence coast to avoid congestion.
The most important ritual of Mahakumbh ‘Mauni Amavasya’ is expected to cause casualties due to the stampede at the confluence during the arrival of millions of pilgrims for the holy bath.
After 144 years this year, a rare astronomical coincidence called ‘Triveni Yoga’ is becoming a more, which further enhances the spiritual significance of this day. About 10 crore pilgrims are expected to arrive in ‘Amrit Snan’ on ‘Mouni Amavasya’.
Security personnel and rescuers were seen taking the injured on stretcher. The goods of people, including blankets and bags, were scattered here and there. After the chaos was reduced, some people continued to find their family members, while others fanned people trapped in the crowd and fed water.
Adityanath said, “Between one to two o’clock in the night, on the Akhara Marg, where the nectar bath of the akhadas was arranged, many devotees jumped into the barricades and some seriously injured. They were immediately rushed to the hospital.”
He said, “All the injured are undergoing treatment and we hope and pray for them to recover early.”
He said, “From the beginning of the auspicious occasion of Mauni Amavasya, the local administration was busy trying to ensure safe amrit bath for devotees from far and wide.”
Adityanath said that Prime Minister Modi has called four times so far to know the health of the devotees. He said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Governor Anandiben Patel have also called.
Adityanath said, “We are busy in making sure that the devotees do not have any inconvenience while taking a holy bath and that is why there is a one with Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary (Home), ADG Law and Order and other senior officials here.” A high -level meeting took place in Prayagraj but the pressure of the crowd is still there. “
He said that he is in contact with all the akhadas and all the akhadas have agreed that they will take a holy bath only after the crowd at the ghats is reduced.
He said, “I have personally talked to the heads of the Akhara Parishad and other saints, including Maha Mandaleshwar. The respected saints have politely agreed to let the devotees take (earlier). Will apply. “
He said, “Yesterday, about five crore devotees took a dip. More than three crore devotees had taken a dip by 8.30 am on Wednesday.” He said that the pressure of crowds still remains in many places.
Adityanath appealed to the people not to take a dip in the Ganges on their nearest ghats and do not try to go to Sangam nose to avoid congestion. He said, “Sangam nose area has a lot of crowd pressure and hence we want the cooperation of all.”
He said, “I appeal to the devotees to take a bath wherever they are, because temporary bathing ghats have been built. It is not necessary to go to the confluence coast for bathing.”
He said, “The elderly, children and asthma patients should be very careful and bathe on their nearest ghats. All the Ganges Ghats and everyone will get the same virtue because it is Mauni Amavasya.”
Adityanath also appealed to the people not to fall into rumors. He said, “Rumors can harm … My appeal is not to let anyone spread negativity.”
He said that everyone has been advised to follow the instructions of the local administration.
Religious leaders also appealed to the devotees who came to Mahakumbh to take caution and self-discipline. Rambhadracharya, the lord of the Vaishnava sect, urged the devotees not to insist on taking a bath on the Sangam coast and instead take a bath at their nearest Ganga Ghat. He advised people to stay near their camps and prioritize the safety of themselves and others.
President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad Ravindra Puri said, “More than 12 crore devotees are present in Prayagraj. Managing such a large crowd is a challenging task. Millions of saints and their followers are also present, so to ensure the safety of all the devotees. Our top priority is. “
Yoga Guru Ramdev urged devotees to take self-discipline and take a holy bath with caution.
