Sonia Gandhi called a meeting on July 15 to finalize Congress strategy in monsoon session

Congress Parliamentary Party leader Sonia Gandhi will preside over an important meeting on Tuesday to finalize the party’s strategy for the monsoon session of Parliament.

The monsoon session of Parliament is expected to be ruckus as the Congress party is shedding a plan to surround the government on many issues.

Opposition parties may raise strong objections to the Election Commission’s move on special intensive revision of voter list in Bihar.

Apart from this, the Congress has also demanded discussion on Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor and subsequent diplomatic activities.

Party sources said that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other leaders including leader husband Rahul Gandhi are expected to attend the meeting. Sonia Gandhi will preside over the meeting at her 10 Janpath residence.

The government has announced that the monsoon session of Parliament will continue from 21 July to 21 August, which is one week more than the time before. This indicates a large legislative agenda. Earlier this session was to end on August 12 but now it has been extended for a week.

Long -term session is taking place at a time when the government is planning to bring several major bills, including facilitating private sector entry into the nuclear power sector.

The government is planning to amend the ‘Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act’ and ‘Atomic Energy Act’ to implement the Union Budget announcement to open the nuclear sector for the private sector.

The opposition is demanding a debate on Operation Sindoor. Opposition parties are also seeking answers from the government on the claim of US President Donald Trump in which they have claimed arbitration in ending the military conflict between India and Pakistan. However, the government has rejected Trump’s claims.
