Sol, 2 June (IANS). South Korea’s Democratic Party (DP) candidate Li J-Mayang and Peepal Power Party (PPP) candidate Kim Moon-Sura Su-Su on Monday put their final emphasis to woo the swing voters.
Lee of Democratic Party, the leading campaign candidate, started the last day of his campaign with Gangbook, the northern ward of Sol. The neighboring cities then stayed in Hanum, Seongam and Guangmayong.
Lee said during a press conference in Seongnam, “Your vote can change history and protect our democracy.” Seongam is widely considered his political hometown, where he completed two consecutive terms as Mayor from 2010 to 2018.
He emphasized his deep relations with the city. This is where he faced difficulties as a teenage factory employee and cherished his dreams and later made a social change as a civil worker.
He said, “I start with my political hometown Seongnam and promise to shape the future of South Korea with people.”
According to the report of the Yonhap news agency, Lee will probably end his campaign in Yoido to highlight his role in the December 3 martial law crisis. It is widely considered the center of South Korea’s politics and the home of the National Assembly.
On the evening of the amazing announcement of Marshal Law by former President Yun Suk Yolle on 3 December, Li and other MPs reached the National Assembly to remove martial law despite being stopped by the police.
During his campaign stop at Gangbook at the beginning of the day, he emphasized the need to protect democracy from “rebel forces” and to make them accountable.
At the same time, Kim of PPP started the day by paying tribute to the victims of the April 3 rebellion in Jeju on Jeju’s South Island. He then held rallies in Busan, Dagu and Deson to gather support at the last minute.
In Busan, Kim apologized for applying martial law by Yun and promised to pursue adventure reforms with PPP when elected.
He regretted a little conservative New Reform Party (NRP) to fail to reach the candidature merger with Lee Jun-Soo.
He said, “Voting for Lee Jun-Sok will only benefit Lee J-Melg”, and urged the voters to support him.
It is noteworthy that in the latest poll on the election, DP’s Lee was shown further with 49.2 percent of the votes, while Kim of PPP got 36.8 percent of the votes. At the same time, Lee Jun-Sok finished third with 10.3 percent support.
South Korea will elect a new president on Tuesday, which is being removed from the post due to the implementation of Marshal Law to Yu.
