Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) -led government of creating obstacles to prevent people from openly celebrating the festival.
Yadav also alleged that the BJP is not running the country in accordance with the constitution.
SP chief Yadav, who reached Aishbagh Eidgah on the occasion of Eid, in a conversation with reporters, accused the police of stopping the Aishbagh Eidgah. He said “Why so much barricading has been done on the occasion of Eid? The police stopped me and when I asked him why they were stopping me, he had no answer.”
Yadav said, “Should I call it dictatorship or call it ’emergency’. I have never seen a barricading that has been done to stop people from celebrating their festival….” He alleged that “BJP is not running this country through the Constitution.”
Yadav said that is it not an attempt to pressurize to stop from joining the festival of other religion? He said, “Eid is being celebrated and Navratri programs are starting. This is the beauty of this India that we all celebrate the festival together.”
While congratulating Eid, he said that “today I want to congratulate the entire state and country.”
The SP chief said that Sweiyan is also available on Eid, and this sweetness is remembered throughout the year. He said, “Our country is a very big country, we have lived here for centuries. People of such caste religion live together, celebrate festivals, share happiness of each other, while they are also involved in grief.”
