Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and said that his highest sacrifice will always be mentioned in the collective memory of the nation.

India celebrates Martyr’s Day on 30 January every year on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary and his contribution to the independence of the country. A few months after India’s independence, Mahatma Gandhi was murdered by Nathuram Godse in Gandhi Smriti, Birla House on 30 January 1948.
