Patna, Aug 29 (IANS) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate the State Sports Academy and Sports University built at the 90-acre International Sports Complex at Rajgir in Nalanda district this evening (Thursday).
All preparations for this function have been completed.
This function will be organized in the newly constructed auditorium of the Sports Academy. Here the players of the state will be given international level residential and non-residential scientific training.
In this, indoor and outdoor stadiums have been constructed for sports like athletics track, football stadium, hockey turf stadium, swimming pool, basketball, volleyball, handball, lawn tennis, wrestling, weightlifting, kabaddi, badminton court, archery, shooting, table tennis, fencing, billiards, cycling etc.
The state government has approved 81 permanent posts of various categories and 33 posts on contract for the operation of the State Sports Academy and international standard cricket stadium Rajgir, constructed at a cost of Rs 750 crore.
On the occasion of inauguration, international players of the state will be given cash prizes and honours as per their achievements.
An exhibition match of the Asian Games winning Indian Women’s Hockey Team was organised on the newly constructed hockey turf.
An international cricket stadium is also being constructed here. The construction work of this stadium is 60 percent complete. The remaining work will be completed by March next year. There will also be a hostel for 300 boys, 150 girls and 45 coaches.
Along with international level practice facilities, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees will also be provided in various courses. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Shravan Kumar, Jayant Raj, Surendra Mehta will also be present in this inauguration ceremony.
