The Congress has directed its state units to strongly highlight all the demands made by the Working Committee, including the party and Rahul Gandhi’s efforts towards social justice, to implement reservation in private educational institutions, to implement reservation in private educational institutions.
As part of the decision taken in the Ahmedabad session, the Congress is organizing a ‘Constitution Bachao Rally’ these days.
In the meeting of the Congress Working Committee on Friday, some demands were made in the resolution passed for caste calculations.
The Working Committee had said, ‘Article 15 (5) of the Constitution should be implemented immediately so that OBC, Dalit and tribal communities can get reservation in private educational institutions. No delay, excuse or administrative defense should be done in caste census.
It was also demanded that, ‘This process should be transparent, timed which includes immediate debate and full budgetary provisions in Parliament. The process of questionnaire, calculation, classification and data publication should be included and participated. ‘
The Working Committee said, “The latest ethnic data should be used to review and strengthen reservation, education, employment and target welfare policies.”
Citing these demands, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has said in a circular sent to the State Congress Committee and the State In-Charge, ‘You know that after the continuous pressure of the Congress, the Modi government, which had been ridiculing and avoiding this demand for a long time- has finally become obliged to accept the demand for justified and democratic caste-based calculations.
He said, ‘Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had repeated this demand by writing a letter to the Prime Minister on this subject. Rahul Gandhi has been the most vocal and firm voice on this issue. He has repeatedly said that caste calculation is necessary for social justice.
The circular states, ‘All the State Congress Committee is requested to raise this issue in a strong manner in the upcoming’ Save the Constitution ‘. The demand for quick implementation of Article 15 (5), especially should be given prominence. He said that the state level control papers should be built which monitors the entire process and appoint dedicated supervisors at the district level who should ensure coordination and reporting of all activities. He said that these demands should also be conveyed to the people through assembly-level rallies, and media.
