Dehradun, Sep 14 (IANS) Giving information about the ‘verification campaign’ started in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami called it necessary for the state.
While talking to journalists in Dehradun, he said that under no circumstances will any tampering with the culture, concept and identity of the state be tolerated. A verification drive was conducted in Uttarakhand for the change in the demography of the state, the positive results of which have started coming out.
He further said, “The original form of the state of Uttarakhand, the concept of the state, should remain that concept. Our government is committed to it. The form of the state should not be spoiled at any cost. The demographic change that has happened in the state should not tamper with the original culture of the state. For this, we have also run a verification campaign recently. We will run this campaign with even more vigor in the future. We are also seeing its results in a positive way. This campaign of ours will continue in the future.”
Let us tell you that in view of the changing demographics in Uttarakhand, the state government had recently started a verification campaign in the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had met the state Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar and other senior police officers at the Police Headquarters in Dehradun a few days ago.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had directed police officials to take strict action against incidents of ‘demographic change, religious conversion and love jihad’. Reacting to this, DGP Abhinav Kumar had said that no census has been conducted in the state after 2011. Despite this, there is a perception among some people, especially in the hilly districts, that the demography of the state has changed due to the settlement of people from outside in the last few years.
