Hisar, September 5 (IANS). Political parties have started announcing the names of their candidates for the Haryana assembly elections. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party has suffered a major setback. BJP’s district vice-president from Hisar, Tarun Jain, said goodbye to the BJP after not getting the ticket. He informed about his resignation from the party in a press conference on Thursday.
In response to the question what will be his next political step, Tarun Jain said, I will hold a meeting with my team members, I will meet the people of Hisar, whatever guidance is there, further decision will be taken according to that. If there is a consensus to contest the elections, then I will contest the elections.
Let us tell you that on Wednesday, BJP released its first list of 67 candidates for the assembly elections. The party has fielded Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini from Ladwa in Kurukshetra district. Saini, who became the Chief Minister in place of Manohar Lal Khattar in March this year, is currently an MLA from Karnal.
The list of candidates also includes eight women. More than half of the 41 BJP MLAs have been renominated. Former Haryana BJP chief and party national secretary Om Prakash Dhankar has been fielded from Badli, while senior party leader Anil Vij is contesting again from his stronghold Ambala Cantonment.
The name of Aarti Rao, daughter of Union Minister Rao Indrajit Singh, is also included in the list. Aarti has been fielded from Ateli, while Shruti Chaudhary has been fielded from Tosham.
Rao Narbir Singh has been fielded from Badshahpur. Shakti Rani Sharma, wife of former cabinet minister Vinod Sharma, who joined the BJP two days ago, has been given a ticket from Kalka. Devendra Singh Babli and Sanjay Kablana, who recently joined the BJP, will contest from Tohana and Tosham respectively.
Candidates can file their nomination papers till September 12. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is September 16. The elections are scheduled to be held in a single phase on October 5 and the counting of votes will take place on October 8.
