Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son and former minister in Bihar government Tej Pratap Yadav has created a new political platform called ‘Team Tej Pratap’ for the upcoming assembly elections. He has formed an alliance of five regional parties in his support. In this, the Congress along with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has also been invited to join. Significantly, Tej Pratap was expelled from RJD in May 2025. Tej Pratap has said that he is ready for an alliance with the Congress, but he clarified that there is no possibility of any kind of alliance with the Janata Dal United (JDU) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Five parties involved in the coalition
Tej Pratap informed through social media that the national president and general secretary of all parties were present in the meeting and all expressed their consent in favor of the alliance. He further wrote,
Vikas underprivileged humans party (VVIP)
Bhojpuria Jan Morcha (bjm)
Progressive Janata Party (PJP)
Reasonable rights party (WAP)
Joint farmer development party
The subject of our alliance is – social justice, social rights and complete changes. We will also work to realize the dreams of Lohia, Karpoori and Jai Prakash Narayan ji.
Invitation given to RJD and Congress, BJP-JDU rejected
In the press conference held after the meeting, Tej Pratap said:
RJD and Congress are welcome. If they want, they can come with us. All will be a positive step together. I have ideological differences with BJP and JDU. I cannot be distracted by my principles.
Hasanpur MLA will contest from Mahua
Tej Pratap won the Mahua seat in 2015 and became an MLA from Hasanpur in 2020. In May 2025, he made his relationship with Anushka Yadav public, after which Lalu Prasad Yadav separated him in the family and politically. After being silent for some time, Tej Pratap is now fully active on the political front. Recently, he announced that he would contest from Mahua seat in the upcoming election, whether he gets an RJD ticket or not, Tej Pratap is now preparing to contest as an independent candidate and trying to connect many regional parties with him.
