Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, giving a befitting reply to the leaders of his own party, said that whoever believes that working in the national interest is a kind of anti -party activity, he needs to question us, not to us.
Pahalgam is leading an all -party parliamentary delegation in the US to explain India’s stance against terrorism after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
Tharoor said in an interview with PTI video on Wednesday, “To be honest, when someone is serving the country, I don’t think anyone needs to worry more about these things.”
Tharoor was answering a question that he was at the center of meditation while leading the all -party delegation as some members of his party criticized his statements.
On returning to India, what will be their message to those party leaders, Tharoor said: “I think anyone who believes in the national interest is an anti -party activity, he really needs to question us but himself.
Tharoor said, “I feel honestly that at this point we are focusing on a mission here, and we do not have to waste much time to worry about what has been said by different persons in the heat of this time or not because our focus is on this very important message. When the time comes, we will deal with it.”
The senior Congress leader said that he saw that his friend Salman Khurshid asked if it was so difficult to be a patriot in India these days.
There is a discussion on social media about whether Tharoor will remain in Congress or join BJP, he said, “I am an elected member of Parliament. There are four years left of my tenure. I don’t know why any question should be asked.”
In response to a question by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and saying that US President Donald Trump’s call, Tharoor said in response to a question, “In democracy, and it is normal, parties will struggle, express and demand criticism.”
He said, “We are not here on the political mission of any party. We are in the form of representatives of united India here. ”He said that the delegation includes three religions and five political parties from seven states.
Apart from Tharoor, the delegation included MP Sarfaraz Ahmed, Ganti Harish Madhur Balayogi, Shashank Mani Tripathi, Bhuvneshwar Kalita, Milind Deora, Tejashwi Surya and former India Ambassador to America Taranjit Sandhu, who reached New York from India on 24 May and reached Washington before reaching Washington in the last phase of the tour.
He said, “This is an incredible cross-section reflection of India’s diversity. And yet we have brought a united message. So there is unity in diversity in this group, and in my view, our focus should be on that integrated message, because when it comes to national interest, national security, honestly, I think the country is united.”
Citing an old interview, he said, “Our political differences stop at the edge of the border. Once you cross the border, you are Indians, and your other loyaltys come second.”
Answering a question on Trump’s repeated claims of mediation in the conflict between India and Pakistan, Tharoor said: “I don’t have to address it because I am not here to create any kind of complications in our relationship with the White House.”
He said, “We have a lot of respect for the US Presidential and the US President. And I think we do not know what their people say to Pakistan. We did not need to convince anyone, because from the first day our indication was that if Pakistan would retaliate then we will attack them even more vigorously. If they stop, we will stop. We said this from the first day. We had said the last day.”
Tharoor said, “So from our point of view, there was no need to ask us to stop, because we were about to stop as Pakistan stayed. Certainly, they must have spoken to Pakistan. They must have said many things to Pakistan. We will never know what was said because it is a case between them and Pakistan, and whatever is coming in Washington, whatever is coming out in Washington, I can understand a lot, but I can not tell you a lot because I do not tell you because I can not tell you. I am not an American. “
After the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, tension between India and Pakistan increased, India carried out accurate attacks on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied on the morning of 7 May.
Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on 8, 9 and 10 May. The Indian side strongly responded to the Pakistani action. On May 10, the ground hostility ended with the consent to stop military action after negotiations between the Director General of Military Operations of the two sides.
