Lucknow, 4 May (IANS). Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that the farmers of Uttar Pradesh will not only be the beneficiary of the schemes, but will become an active partner of the overall development of the state. Agriculture in the new Uttar Pradesh of new India will be the basis of not only livelihood, but also the basis of prosperity and self -reliance.
Discussing the update situation of the Agricultural Sector in the review meeting of the Agriculture Department on Sunday, the Chief Minister said that 11.41% of the total agricultural sector of the country is in Uttar Pradesh. However, the state’s share in food production is 20.89%, which is a proof of the effective policies of the farmers and the government’s effective policies. In 2016-17, where food production was 557.46 lakh metric tonnes, it has increased to more than 725.12 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25. During the same period, there has been a greater increase in pulses and oilseeds production. The Chief Minister reiterated the resolve to take this achievement to new heights.
Special emphasis on the quality and suitability of the seed, CM Yogi directed that seeds should be developed according to the climatic zones. He instructed to prepare separate seeds for early and late sowing, ensure authentication and make available to farmers at a discounted rate.
He also asked the farmers to increase the amount of seed procurement and ensure availability of processed seeds by the Uttar Pradesh Seed Development Corporation. Instructing the installation of the proposed Chaudhary Charan Singh Seed Park in Lucknow, the Chief Minister described it as the basis of revolution in the seed area.
Expressing the need for maximum use of institutions like Uttar Pradesh Agricultural Research Council, the Chief Minister called for speed to technology -based agricultural innovations.
Emphasizing the process of subsidy on agricultural implements transparent, CM Yogi said that widespread publicity should be done before taking applications from farmers. In the selection process, it should be ensured that farmers of maximum development blocks are benefited.
Expressing special enthusiasm about ‘Shri Ann’, he instructed to strengthen the system of encouragement and procurement. He also expressed seriousness about the spread of natural farming and said that effective system of certification of organic products should be developed, so that farmers can get better market value.
It was informed in the meeting that so far 2.81 crore farmers have been benefited under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. The Chief Minister described it as a living example of transparency and good governance in farmer welfare.
