Giridih, Sep 9 (IANS) Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has raised the issue of tribal Sarna religion code in response to the issue of Bangladeshi infiltration raised by the BJP.
Addressing a public meeting during the ‘Aapki Sarkar, Aapke Dwar’ program in Gandey of Giridih district, he said that these people talk about intruders here, love jihad and land jihad. They say that the number of tribals is decreasing. We ask them why they are not allowing the tribals to write Sarna tribal religion in the census form. If we do not have an identity, then it is natural for us to disappear. We passed a proposal from the Jharkhand Assembly to implement a separate religion code for the tribals in the census and sent it to the central government, but they are sitting on it.
Without naming the BJP, Soren said that in view of the elections to be held in Jharkhand in the next two-three months, political vultures have started hovering over the state. Some are coming from Assam and some from Chhattisgarh. Right now small vultures are coming. After a few days, big vultures will be seen, who will give false assurances to the public. Some will mislead in the name of caste, some in the name of religion and some in the name of forward-backward. The public will have to be cautious of such vultures.
Soren said that during the four years of rule, our opponents left no stone unturned to harass us. I was put in jail, but it is the blessing of the people that I am in front of you. Accusing the BJP of cheating the tribals and Dalits, the JMM leader said that in the name of lateral entry, preparations are being made to replace the tribals and Dalits with people from the backdoor. The BJP also cut down the rights of the backward classes of Jharkhand. The former Chief Minister of the state reduced the reservation of the backward classes from 27 percent to 14 percent. When we send a law to increase the percentage of reservation here, the people sitting at the top stop it by calling it unconstitutional. Sometimes the governor stops it and sometimes the government sitting in Delhi.
He said that if we do something, it becomes unconstitutional, whatever they do is constitutional. In the previous government, people living in the forest areas of the state used to get forest patta of only 1-2 decimal land, now we are distributing forest patta in the measure of acre. Now people should plant fruit trees on that land. As long as the trees are there, that land is theirs.
