The Congress on Saturday, after handing over one of the delegations visiting various countries from next week, said to Shashi Tharoor, on Saturday that the government is playing the game and working with a mischievous mentality. Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh also said that only four leaders from the Congress have been given to the government in the names of Anand Sharma, Gaurav Gogoi, Syed Nasir Hussain and Amarinder Singh Raja Wading.
He said that the government cannot include any of its MPs without consulting the party. He also said that it has been a good democratic tradition that MPs joining the official delegation seek permission from their party leadership.
Without naming Shashi Tharoor, Ramesh said that “there is a difference between the sky in being in the Congress and the Congress being.” He alleged that the government has not only shown honesty in this case and she is playing a game of diverting attention as its discussion has become ‘puncture’.
It is noteworthy that the government said on Saturday that one of the seven delegations going abroad will lead to the leadership. After getting the responsibility of leading one of the seven delegations going abroad, Tharoor said that when the national interest is talked about, he will be available for his service.
Ramesh said that Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi wrote a letter to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Friday and gave four names and when the minister spoke to the Congress leadership, there was no talk to keep a particular person in the delegation. He emphasized that there will be no change in the four names given by the party.
Ramesh said, “In some cases of diplomacy, the power and the opposition move forward on the basis of faith. Rijiju had asked for four names, we gave four names. We hoped that when the announcement would be made, the four names that were given would remain the names. But today when the announcement was made, they were not names.”
He said, “We followed our religion. We named it with the belief that the government is asking us honestly, not with a mischievous mindset.” Ramesh said, “We have been demanding an all -party meeting under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister since 22 April, but the Prime Minister did not come in the two meetings and these meetings were just formalities.”
The Congress General Secretary said that a special session of Parliament was demanded so that collective resolutions could be made in front of the country and the world and reiterated the 1994 proposal which mentions that Pakistan’s occupied Kashmir is a part of India.
He claimed, “Talking about sending an all -party delegation. It shows that the government’s discussion has been punctured …. We welcomed it and said that it will take part in it. But honesty was not shown by the government, a game is being played. The mischievous mindset is working.”
Ramesh said, “We are playing directly with the bat, with which bat the government is playing, we do not know.” The Congress leader said, “In 1971, Indira ji sent several delegations, went to Jayaprakash Narayan. Indira ji went to Moscow from 27 September to 29 September 1971. After which she went to Austria, Belgium, Britain, America, France, France, West Germany. There was no damage control in 1971 which is happening today.”
Ramesh said that US President Donald Trump has said for the seventh consecutive time that he did mediation and showed the greed for business, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not saying anything on it. Ramesh said, “There should be diplomatic efforts, but should be honest. You (government) are playing the role of Narada Muni.”
He said, “Even today we demand that all -party meeting be called, Chief Ministers of all states should be called and special session of Parliament should be called. This session can be of two days.”
