Nominations will be filed on Monday for the new state presidents of Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Himachal and Telangana and the BJP can announce the names of new state presidents on July 1, but the matter is stuck about the Uttar Pradesh president. In this episode, in nine states of the country including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, a round of meetings is going on to decide the name of the new state president. The party on Friday appointed three senior leaders to oversee the organizational elections in Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and West Bengal regarding the nomination of BJP state president. The responsibility of organizational elections in West Bengal has been entrusted to former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Maharashtra Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Uttarakhand Union Minister Harsh Malhotra. At the same time, nominations for the new state presidents of Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Himachal and Telangana will be filled on Monday.
After this, the names of the BJP president can be announced in these four states on Tuesday. Assembly elections are due in West Bengal next year. The current state president Sukant Majumdar has become Union Minister and now preparations are underway to bring new faces in his place. Many names are being discussed for the state president. The current executive president Ravindra Chavan is likely to be given a chance in Maharashtra. Similarly, the Union Minister announced the name of BJP President for Himachal Pradesh. Jitendra Singh will do it. The command of the Uttarakhand BJP president is currently in the hands of Mahendra Bhatt and his tenure has been completed. In such a situation, Mahendra Bhatt can be made the state president for another tenure or some new faces can be revealed. Organizational election required for the BJP President has completed the term of BJP President JP Nadda.
He was assigned the BJP’s reins in 2020 and was given the service extension in June last year. In such a situation, the new president is to be elected in place of JP Nadda, for which the party has started a political exercise. According to the party’s constitution, the BJP cannot choose its national president until more than 50 percent of the state and union territory units are completed. There are 37 union territories in the country, of which the process of organizational elections is to be completed in at least 19 states. The BJP has completed the organizational election process of 14 state organizational units.
BJP’s organizational elections are yet to be held in big and important states like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana, of which the name of the state president may be announced on July 1 in Himachal, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra and Telangana. For this, the BJP leadership has been in political churning for three days. The BJP is looking for a strong female face against Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal for the state president, which is to be given the command of the party organization. The current executive president Ravindra Chavan is likely to be given a chance in Maharashtra. In Karnataka, BJP is trying to make whistle Ravi or Sunil Kumar the party president in place of BY Vijayendra. In Madhya Pradesh, four different names have been churned for this post.
Political screw stuck on UP BJP president
In UP, BJP’s state presidents are facing the most problems. The tenure of the current president of Uttar Pradesh Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary is over and the search for a new face is going on in his place. In such a situation, it is being said that the election of the national president will be held only after the appointment of a new president in Uttar Pradesh. The appointment of the new state president in Uttar Pradesh has been given priority, as this state is very important politically and assembly elections are to be held in 2027. The BJP’s strategy is to give an OBC or Dalit face a chance as the state president in Uttar Pradesh. The state has the government of Yogi Adityanath, who comes from the Thakur caste. If the power is in the hands of the upper castes, then the responsibility of the organization will have to be entrusted to the OBC or Dalits. In the last Lok Sabha election, the vote bank of both Dalit and OBC classes is scattered, so the party is not able to decide which class should be bet on in the current circumstances. After political churning on many names, the talk has not been finalized yet.
